Frutto di notevole importanza ed al centro della nostra politica commerciale è il kiwi di Calabria nelle varietà Hayward e Green Light. Importato nella nostra regione agli inizi degli anni Ottanta, ha subito incontrato un notevole successo, grazie al particolare clima caldo-umido ed ai terreni di medio impasto, che consentono un rapporto ottimale della pianta con l’ambiente. Ad oggi la O.P. Monte ha associati parecchi produttori e questo grazie al fatto che cura con particolare attenzione gli impianti degli aderenti e cerca di indirizzarli verso una produzione che punti alla qualità. Le produzione iniziano ad ottobre e perdurano fino a maggio grazie alla peculiare caratteristica del prodotto di conservarsi nelle celle frigo.

The heart of our commercial policy is the Kiwi of Calabria in both varieties Hayward and Green Light, which is considered a fruit of great importance for our association. Kiwi has been imported in our region at the beginning of the ‘80s. His plantation had an immediate success thanks to union between hot-humid temperature and the mixture of ground. These elements together allowed plants to grow up in a favorable habitat. O.P.Monte has many producers who join the Association. Their principal aim is to take care to the processing of the plants in order to obtain an high-quality product for the worldwide market. Kiwi’s production starts in October and continuous till May even because this fruit can be preserved into the special cold store.
